My "New" Job

Daycare providers keep on quitting on Caleb after assuring my daughter that, oh yes, they know what autism is and they can take care of an autistic kid.  Why do they lie and leave her in the lurch?  She doesn't get even a week's notice.  Often just a day or few.  How can they do that to her job...her life?  My life?  It affects three households actually.  My 2nd son and I end up scrambling, putting things in our lives on hold and rearranging schedules too.

So, I'm going to officially babysit him and Laylah, having read much material and having worked with him for years.  I won't back out unless I'm having surgery or am very ill.

I do have to put in a certain number of CNA hours every year.  I'm not sure how we're going to do that.  It makes my scheduling tougher too.  And it totally shoots my chance at getting a job with health insurance.

health insurance is a good thing to have on available, but sometimes we really have to focus on what is important. If emergency medical care arose, believe me I know the Universe would provide for you. there is always a way.

Has your daughter checked to see if she can get county paid child care since he is autistic? I know not all states do this, but many do...might be worth looking into... then you could get paid by the state/county and possibly get state employee coverage. That is how I have cared for Vi the last 2 years...I know they do it for hard to manage kids here too. Most states do not advertise it, but if they do there, a family member with a CNA would be preferred over a stranger in this case I would think as a care provider.

@dejablu503 - I'll be the county paid child care, yup, since it's been county paid child care that's been quitting on him.  I'll have to take a class and that's coming up in a few weeks or so.  We had to fight for this because the general rules don't allow for this if the child care is provided in the child's home (he gets intensive in-home therapy that requires that a parent or guardian is present, it involves up to 3 therapists at a time, and my house is too crowded already).  It was only allowed after much tenacious inquiry with the right people.  We were flat out told it wasn't allowed so many times.  I guess one has to take it to the right person.

I don't know why they make it so difficult.  People dealing with a very autistic child don't need a war on every front.
